2007: Panda Aria
Panda Aria is our environmental 'manifesto' in our search for innovative solutions for pollutant and CO2 emission control, with a record abatement of 69 g/km. This concept car brings together sustainable technologies, some of them well tested and some ready for industrialisation. It combines an innovative power train architecture, consisting of a new 900 cc Turbo, featuring the Multiair® system, dual fuel feed (petrol / natural gas-hydrogen mixture) MTA gearbox and Start&Stop system, with the use of recycled, recyclable or natural materials, both for the body (semitransparent eco-resin and opaque ‘totouch’ paintwork) and for the interior (cotton and linen, coco fibre fabric and details in biodegradable materials). Moreover, we have minimised the energy used up by the engine and the quantity used to power the auxiliary devices, such as the energy saving climate control. We have reduced the weight of the vehicle (downsized engine, new generation high strength steel, natural gas cylinders in high strength steel and carbon fibre) and we have adopted Pirelli experimental ‘ultragreen’ tyres, characterised by new mixes and new AOF (Aromatic Oil Free) rubber coating treatments ensuring minimised rolling resistance without undermining dynamic safety (stopping distances, handling on wet and dry surfaces). Finally, the Panda Aria uses telematic equipment based on the Blue&Me architecture, that is ready for the implementation of new infomobility services, and an innovative application, ecoDrive, that enables you to keep track of consumption and emission levels by saving them in a USB device, so that your driving style can be analysed and you can get useful tips on ecological driving.
