HYper Panda
In 2007, in collaboration with the Fiat Research Centre and Fiat Powertrain Technologies, we produced HYper Panda, a prototype that laid the foundations for a new technology on our way to hydrogen powered vehicles. The HYper Panda runs on a mixture of natural gas and 30% hydrogen: the addition of a given percentage of hydrogen to the natural gas enhances the ecological characteristics of the gas, in terms of pollutant emissions, and reduced CO2 emissions. These result in a reduction of CO2 emissions down to 100 g/km and improved range compared to the natural gas version. Since hydrogen can be obtained from renewable sources, or as a by-product of industrial processes, the HYper Panda provides a valuable answer to environmental problems and constitutes a technological platform for the transition to vehicles running on pure hydrogen.
