Downsizing
The downsizing philosophy that we have applied to our latest engines, coupled with the adoption of a new generation turbocharger and a smaller-sized engine, makes it possible to achieve performances comparable with or better than those of bigger engines, plus reduced emissions and fuel consumption. Downsizing is a significant trait of the new 1.4 T-Jet engine family. The same applies to the next engine, the two-cylinder SGE (Small Gasoline Engine), 900 cc Turbo, currently being developed. It will be fitted with the Multiair® system, which makes it possible to save fuel and therefore reduce CO2 emissions according to the future Euro 5 and Euro 6 emission limits, while ensuring the same performances as bigger-sized engines.
